As part of Young Buck’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation, the rapper’s assets are going on sale.

Among the items included are Young Buck’s songs and royalties. The Wall Street Journal reports that Buck was required to sell all of his intellectual property, which court documents say includes “trademarks and copyrights, all masters, compositions royalties, rights and licenses owned by debtor and all rights of publicity owned by debtor.”

The sale proposed to occur at a May 14 auction at the Nashville law firm of Harwell Howard Hyne Gabbert & Manner. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Nashville, Tennessee still needs to sign off on the auction proposal.

A judge ordered Buck last year to sell the intellectual property after he couldn’t come up with a viable business plan for reorganizing his finances.

Jury selection is set to begin on Monday (April 8 ) for rapper G. Dep’s murder trial.

According to CBS News, G. Dep, whose real name is Trevell Gerald Coleman, is headed for trial for shooting a stranger while attempting to mug him in 1993. It’s a crime to which he confessed in December 2010.

G. Dep already turned down a plea deal that would have given him 15 years to life in prison. His lawyers suggested that Dep might argue that years of PCP use influenced his confession.

“Conscience drove him to do something. … He thinks he did the right thing,” said defense lawyer Anthony L. Ricco this past winter. “There’s a lot of people who think he’s a fool for doing this. He doesn’t think he’s a fool. […] He says this has been like a blessing. It’s saved his life.”

G. Dep faces 25 years to life behind bars if convicted. He is currently being held without bail and has pleaded not guilty.

Some of the most iconic viral videos were never intended to go viral. “Star Wars Kid,” for example, was created before YouTube even existed, and only went viral after the creator’s classmates leaked it online. Then there are viral videos created for the intention of marketing blogs or other sites, such as lonelygirl15 – a scripted web series that was produced by an ad agency and disguised to look like an independent teen’s video diary.

The age of the Internet has changed the face of marketing and people know there’s big money to be made from viral videos. Whether from the ad revenue generated by YouTube commercials, from the interest generated in a product or service – or from both:

• Inspire or Entertain – Whether they’re created for profit or personal enjoyment, the most successful viral videos are almost always entertaining or inspiring because that’s what motivates people to share them. Serious videos that are preachy or informative won’t get much traction on the Internet unless they inspire solutions to the problems they present, like “Kony 2012.” Entertaining videos are often shared if they provide a quick laugh and a simple context, such as an animal making a funny face (“Dramatic Hamster”) or a child delivering a funny line (“Charlie Bit My Finger.”)
• Create a Memorable Name – Giving your video a catchy, memorable name is crucial in propelling it toward viral success. When you think of the most popular viral videos, you’ll notice that they all have a name that’s descriptive, to-the-point and memorable. “Thriller Cat,” “Boom Goes the Dynamite,” and “Usher Goat” – these titles are all compelling, a bit silly, and most importantly, easy to remember.
• Employ Social Media – Once you’ve chosen a name for your video and are ready to share it, post it on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and any other social media account you have. If your video appeals to a wide audience, it should begin to catch on first in this medium.
• Target Key People – Target people who already have an audience that’s compatible with your video and piggyback off of their audience. For example: If your video is about celebrities, try tweeting or emailing it to staff at a major celebrity gossip blog. If they like your video, they might in turn share it with their audience, who are already primed for celebrity content.
• Link to Your Video – An easy and fairly passive way to maximize your video’s web presence is to include a link to it in your online communication materials. These materials could include your email signature, message board or online forum signature, or the “about me” section of your social media accounts.

If you’re serious about marketing your videos, a degree in film and TV production can teach you the tools you need to employ online media as a means of promoting your work and generating revenue.
